Member’s Meeting Monday Oct. 26, 7:30PM, Museum of Natural History – Foraging with Nick of North

NOTE: This meeting is tentative right now because I have been having communication difficulties with Nick for several weeks. If I am unable to confirm that the talk is still on, I will still show up at the museum and hope for the best. If I am successful in reaching him beforehand, I will update with a notice to the members and on the website. He seemed quite keen when I last spoke with him. – Bob

Nick of North is the creative persona of Nick Chindamo, a Canadian chef, wild food enthusiast, storyteller, and full-time forager.

Nick grew up in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and learned foraging as a young child. After leaving the Sault and working at an number of top tier restaurants, he has ended up working with Michael Smith at The Inn at Bay Fortune in PEI. There he works as a full-time forager and member of the culinary team, collaborating on seasonal events like the FireWorks Feast and special menus such as The Foraged Seven during the Chefs’ Harvest series.

His work explores wild-crafted ingredients, ancient preservation techniques (like bog butter), and forest-to-table dining. He has been named in F&H Magazine’s Top 30 Under 30 and is recognized widely across Canadian culinary and foraging circles.
